Bush Inspired By The Little Engine That Could

March 13, 2008

By Robert Jones

George W. Bush has returned Wednesday to his post as Head of State and Commander in Chief with renewed vigor and excitement, reportedly, after reading the timeless classic children's story, The Little Engine That Could.

In a nationally aired speech Wednesday afternoon, Bush's words were quite moving, "how that little choo-choo train could keep going even when the whole world had lost confidence in it is so touching. America, I resolve to keep trying and climb that big hill."

Bush's enthusiasm has rubbed off on his cabinet and staff, as well. Said Condoleeza Rice, "each time he works a choo choo reference into conversation, it sends a chill down my spine."

Not unexpectedly, Bush's newfound enthusiasm has been with mixed opinions by the American public. The Porker questioned several citizens about this.

"In their eighth year in office, I really feel we will see the best of this administration. I really loved that book as a child," said one Chicago woman. "I mean, they couldn't really do any worse, right?"

One Tulsa man had this to say, "What the fuck?!?"

Well, America, there you have it. Hopefully, by the end of his term, we will hear Bush's triumphant cry:

I thought I could, I thought I could, I thought I could...
